A few days ago, my wife and I woke up in the middle of the night to a blinding spotlight shining right into our room. This also happened to us when we first moved to Fort Lee; but then, I thought it was a helicopter shining a spotlight right at us. Well, because our building is perched atop a plateau (the famous Palisades) and we’re on the 20th floor, the moon—setting on the horizon in the early morning hours—seems just that to us, a huge 3,474 km wide spotlight.

Of course, viewed from our bed and away from the window, the moon looked even larger through the frame of the windows. Walking right up to my window and out onto the balcony to take a picture, the moon seems to decrease in size when compared to the rest of the western N.J. skyline. Perspective. Still, it’s still pretty big in the sky.

And yes, I was freezing my butt off on the balcony on the 15° night.

RYC:  Sappy to keep the wife happy! LOL

Beautiful picture.   The moon has been nice and clear here as well.  If at the right angle (I forget the season) we get the spotlight affect in our bedroom as well.  Doesn't really bother me, but the wife is such a light sleeper that she needs near darkness to sleep.  Even with blinds and shades, it still makes it way through.

what a gorgeous view from your apartment!  how do you not have dinner on the balcony every night?!  some candles, a few roses, some "miles davis for lovers" music in the background, and take out food, you have yourselves a most romantico evening!

the moon was beautiful here earlier this week too, actually when it was rising it looked huge coming up over the horizon. plus it was partly cloudy (big puffy ones) so it gave a pretty neat, semi-eery but really beautiful feel.

hehe, yes, there is graffiti here too. you just have to know where to look. but i don't exactly live in the country, haha :p

I love seeing the moon on a clear night
    ^_^
Even with a bit of light pollution, it still make its presence felt.

That is a happy moment. I SHOOK hands with Jimmy Carter  lol a long time ago at an army navy football game in Washington DC. I think I was about 11 . I went square dancing tonight  in St. Marys Ohio . I was a member 14 years ago of their sqare dance club. I sat across from a sweet lady . We instantly liked each other and knew each other from SOMEWHERE. OH YES  6 years ago I was used to seeing her in a space suit while she gave me chemotherapy. LOL Small world sometimes in the great midwest.( WHY I LOVE small towns.)I appreciated your comment. I have been in small town Ohio for 22 years now basically terrified of big cities. I  love visiting Columbus Ohio  HOME of the Ohio State Buckeyes where my daughter attends. One of the 10 best cities in US. My dad grew up in New York City
