Pizza Ban
Anyone who knows me knows that pizza is one of my absolutely favorite foods, if not THE favorite. Well, due to some rather ominous (okay, it wasn’t that bad) cholesterol blood-results a few months ago, I had to start doing something to cut down some of my higher-cholesterol foods and get some exercise.
Well, with the newborn and lack of time in my schedule, exercise wasn’t figuring in to my schedule as much as I’d like, and so it was time for some drastic measures. Two weeks ago, I declared a moratorium on pizza…for SIX WHOLE MONTHS.
Considering I’ve successfully given up McDonald’s (6+ years: anti-commericalization & health reasons), Starbucks (5+ years: economically stupid to spend so much on not-so-great coffee, especially in this economy) and Wendy’s (1+ year: protest against their stupid commercials, the baconator was the absolute worst), I think I can do this.
Funny thing: once you have a child, it’s like you really do want to live forever.

good for you. though how often do you actually eat pizza in a typical week? photos of some of your dinners look quite healthy. good luck!! seems like you have a track record for success.
good for you!
does homemade pizza count if you make it with healthier ingredients? i am most impressed with your other food bans.
Wholefoods has multigrain dough AND whole wheat dough.
This is HUGE undertaking. I did notice, you didn’t mentionanything about hotdogs….
or try california pizza kitchen – is that out on the east coast? they have yummy pad thai pizza, or peking duck pizza, all pretty good and seemingly healthy. wow…i can’t believe it’s been 6 years since you gave up mcdonald’s. just fyi – their asian salad with grilled chicken is VERY yummy and healthy. still love their fries.
mmm i’m with you, i love pizza too.
two words: cheerios and oatmeal.
6 weeks, right? that’s what the commercials say. and maybe then you can still include pizza once or twice a month as a treat. i’d continue to stay away from the fast food though..i’ve been off that stuff for a while. i’m thinking i’d like to start cutting out some of the really…unnatural foods/snacks too.
