  • Missing in Action

I miss this place. I miss you Xangans I call friends. This place is more real and way cooler (hate the term but it seems that’s what people identify with) than that clutterbomb FB. And, Xanga is not just a place to sell your souls and your body (unlike MySpace). Love it!

I’ve been slowly getting our new home ready for moving in: painting (with lots of help from friends), cleaning and some renovation work (contractors). And, as of Friday, March 14, we’ve moved (again, with the help of a very determined friend) and have been busy with unpacking and getting settled. This has been exhausting and has taken a long time. I can’t believe we have so much stuff. No internet access yet; so I’ve had to improvise [wink, wink]. So, I’m not online often.

Herewith, a scattershot of thoughts of recent days…

This photo is from a few moons ago, on a visit to a not-too-distant place of familiarity to my wife. Some of you regulars here will (should) definitely recognize this. Or maybe not.

This seems like such a long time ago…and it was!

Is anyone as disillusioned with what amounts to campaigning in this year’s presidential election? Every day, it’s another tabloid story. Where is the discussion of issues? The debates? What debates? What a joke! They’ve been nothing more than additional tabloid fodder with the incessant personal attacks!

EDIT: 3/27/08 @ 11:16 a.m. — Thanks for all the guesses, I was hoping for one of my wife’s friends to pipe up, but alas no. The image is a classroom in Taylor Hall at Bryn Mawr.

  • Haha. I was gonna say, “nice hardwood floors in what looks like your dining room.”

  • that’s what i should be doing- getting this home ready to sell! it’s not fair that i have to paint on both ends! :( that was a tough question you asked! thanks for making me think! i think so frequently about asian media that i rarely think about the influences from american media on me! well-done! :)

  • moving is so much fun and work!!  hope Simone is able to get her rest in the midst of all the busy-ness that comes with moving =)

  • I love Xanga tooo. :)

And as for the election… yeah… it’s so hard to figure out anyone’s platform without sitting down and researching… Everyone’s just arguing about pointless things that don’t even matter and the answer, of course, is involves “bipartisan effort” and “unity,” which to me… sounds like a BS answer. Fluff without substance. Aiya.

  • THAT is your dining room?

  • @allergictochocolate - Haha…not our dining room, by far. I wish I had those hard-wood floors, although hardwood is supposedly somewhere underneath all the carpeting.

  • i don’t know what this pic is, but it’s very calming.  thanks for finding a way to blog!  despite your circumstances.  i’m wondering, pre-FB, how it was different in xangaland.

  • what is this picture of? it’s a really nice room.  i thought it looked more like a library, until i saw the plates in the cabinets.   will you be posting pictures of your new place?  i’m addicted to HGTV even though we don’t have a place to renovate.  hope all is well.  how about pictures of a prego simone?  congrats again on your move. :)

by the time general election comes by, no one will be interested in seeing another clifton or obama on tv because we’ll be so tabloid-out.

  • i’m curious, too!  where is that photo from?

  • congrats on your move…  hope internet is up and running so you can update fantasy b-ball in time for the season.. .
